About the event
What if you could enter a psychedelic-like state of consciousness—without taking a psychedelic?
This November, experience a multi-day Grof® Breathwork experience designed for deep inner exploration and transformation.
Stanislav Grof, M.D., Ph.D., who just celebrated his 95th birthday, is considered one of the great pioneers of the therapeutic use of psychedelics. For decades, Stan Grof's research with psychedelics revealed that activating the unconscious invites access to all levels of human experience, including unfinished issues from our post-natal biography, imprints of trauma, perinatal experiences, death and rebirth sequences, and transpersonal experiences that can reach mystical, mythological, archetypal, and universal realms.
In the 1970’s Stan developed Grof® (holotropic) Breathwork, which uses accelerated breathing, evocative music, and a supportive therapeutic container as a powerful alternative way of accessing the same non-ordinary state of consciousness that psychedelics confer. For those who are inexperienced with psychedelics, it can be a powerful introduction to self-exploration. And experienced psychedelic psychonauts have reported experiences rivaling their most profound psychedelic journeys.
Grof® Breathwork is not about forcing an outcome or chasing a particular state. It is about creating the conditions for something deeper to emerge. The invitation is simply to breathe, surrender, and discover what is waiting within.
Experience the breath differently.
Who is this for?
There are infinite reasons to explore non-ordinary states of consciousness. Some come for the therapeutic benefits, and profound healing that can come from this work. Others come for spiritual insight or personal development. And some come just out of curiosity.
You don't need to be experienced with psychedelics.
You don't need to have done breathwork before.
You simply need curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.
What to Expect
This isn't a breathwork class.
There are many forms of breathwork available today that offer techniques for relaxation, nervous system regulation, stress reduction, or physical vitality. This is something completely different.
Grof® Breathwork is an invitation to go somewhere deeper.
You may encounter forgotten experiences.
You may move through powerful emotions.
You may experience profound physical release.
You may encounter symbolic or archetypal imagery.
You may experience a sense of connection, unity, or transcendence.
Or your journey may be something entirely different.
There is no "right" experience.
There is no predetermined destination and no experience you are expected to have. Your psyche determines the journey.
A psychedelic journey—without the psychedelic.
The structure of this weekend is intentionally similar to an immersive psychedelic retreat: preparation, a carefully held inner journey, time for reflection and integration, and a supportive community around the experience. The primary difference is the modality. Instead of a psychedelic substance, the breath becomes the catalyst.
You will have the opportunity to experience one facilitated Grof® Breathwork session as a breather and one as a sitter, allowing you to experience both sides of the process. The weekend will also include preparation, facilitated group time, and opportunities to begin making meaning of what emerges.
A follow-up online integration session on Wednesday, November 18 will provide additional space to reflect on your experience and explore how its insights may continue unfolding after the weekend.

A profound inner journey deserves an intentional container. For this Grof® Breathwork experience, we are pleased to partner with SANCTUM Aspen, a purpose-built psychedelic healing and human development center in Aspen, Colorado.
SANCTUM was founded around a simple but powerful premise: the environment surrounding transformational work matters. Its retreats bring together intentional space, nature, preparation, guided experience, and integration to create the conditions for meaningful change.
Our weekend follows a similar philosophy. Although Grof® Breathwork uses the breath rather than psychedelic medicine, the experience calls for the same level of care and intentionality. Over three days, you'll step out of ordinary life and into a dedicated space for preparation, exploration, reflection, and integration.
Set against the extraordinary landscape of Aspen, SANCTUM offers a rare combination of privacy, beauty, comfort, and intentionality—allowing you to give your full attention to the journey within.

Facilitators

Colleen Reid
Colleen Reid is a certified Grof® Breathwork Facilitator, Spiritual Emergence Coach®, and Integration Coach, and serves as one of three senior faculty members of Grof® Legacy Training USA.
She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and a Master of Environmental Studies from Yale University. Before turning her full attention to work with consciousness and transformation, Colleen spent many years in environmental conservation through fieldwork, research, nonprofit leadership, and consulting. From 1997 to 2002, she also competed internationally in skeleton at the World Cup and Olympic levels.
Colleen’s life was profoundly transformed in February 2014 by a spontaneous spiritual awakening and period of deep spiritual emergence. The experience permanently changed her understanding of consciousness, self, and the sacred, and ultimately redirected the course of her life. During this period, she discovered Holotropic® Breathwork and credits the work not with causing, but with catalyzing, her awakening.
In 2014, Colleen began intensive training in the Grof lineage and was certified in Holotropic Breathwork and Transpersonal Psychology through Grof Transpersonal Training® in 2015. Her additional studies include certification in Spiritual Emergence Coaching® through IMHU and a year-long program in global mysticism with Andrew Harvey and Mirabai Starr. She later founded BodhiBreath®, offering teaching, spiritual emergence coaching, psychedelic integration, and breathwork workshops.
Today, Colleen’s work with Grof® Legacy Training USA is the central focus of her professional life, where she teaches, facilitates, and mentors new generations of practitioners. She brings to this work both extensive training and lived experience with expanded states of consciousness. Her deepest passion is creating safe, grounded spaces in which people can access the innate healing intelligence of the psyche and discover the transformative potential of their own inner process.

Lincoln Scott
Lincoln has been facilitating breathwork retreats for the past fifteen years. He worked on staff with Grof Transpersonal Training from 2010-2016. For the last two and a half years, he has worked as a staff facilitator with the Grof Legacy Project, hosting retreats at Synergia Retreat Center.
In 2008, he began studying with Zen Buddhist writing teacher Natalie Goldberg at The Mabel Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico. He has adapted her "writing practice" to the breathwork experience as an integrative tool. He has been teaching writing workshops both live and on zoom for the past ten years. He spent three summers teaching writing practice with Diane Haug at her Ocamora retreat in Ocate, New Mexico.
He currently resides outside of Wichita, Kansas where he manages a residential remodeling business and a woodworking shop.
