Moving Toward Wholeness Together

At Grof® Legacy Training USA, we hold the vision of an inclusive environment where individuals from all walks of life feel respected, valued, and empowered. This includes welcoming members of the queer community, who are already well represented in our administration, teaching and facilitation staff.

 

We are grateful to members of the LGBTQIA+ community for bringing to our attention the continued publication of early writings of Stan Grof that discussed homosexuality as a pathology. While it is not possible to republish all of Stan’s prior writings, a new edition of LSD Psychotherapy is in process which will not contain these passages. The passages were omitted from Stan’s most recent encyclopedia, The Way of the Psychonaut.

 

We invite you to read Stan’s two Open Letters of apology published on the website of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).

 

In these letters, Stan affirms that he has long believed that LGBTQIA+ identities are a natural, valid, and beautiful part of human diversity. He clarifies that his work has always supported people in moving towards their own particular wholeness and that he has never engaged in gay to straight “conversion therapy,” as had been charged by some from the LGBTQIA+ community.

 

We invite everyone interested in the Grof lineage to help us build a community valuing openness, acceptance, and respect, where each person’s journey of self-exploration and discovery is honored. We recognize the need for continued work in manifesting this vision.
