Health Considerations for Grof® Breathwork

Grof® Breathwork is a transformative experience designed to facilitate deep self-exploration and healing. Due to the intense physical and emotional nature of the practice, certain health conditions may pose risks during breathwork sessions. To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, please review the following health considerations before registering for a workshop.

Physical Health Conditions

Grof Breathwork involves intense breathing and movement, which may not be suitable for individuals with cardiovascular issues, including a history of heart attacks, cardiovascular surgery, severe hypertension, arteriosclerosis, angina pectoris, or arrhythmia. If you have a heart condition or other significant health concerns, please consult your physician before participating.

Recent Surgery or Physical Injuries

If you have recently undergone surgery or sustained fractures or other injuries, please allow time for full recovery before engaging in a breathwork session. The movements and energy release during sessions may exacerbate recent physical injuries.

Self-Responsibility and Aftercare

Grof Breathwork is a personal growth experience and is not a substitute for medical care or psychotherapy. We encourage participants to take responsibility for their own well-being and to seek any additional support they may need following the workshop.

Pregnancy

For safety reasons, Grof Breathwork is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, as the physical and emotional demands of the experience may affect both the individual and the developing baby.

Mental Health and Psychiatric Conditions

Grof Breathwork can bring intense emotional experiences to the surface, which may not be appropriate for individuals with certain psychiatric conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or active psychosis. If you are unsure, please consult your therapist and our team to assess the suitability of this practice for you.

Infectious Illnesses and COVID-19 Policy

For the safety of all participants, we ask that individuals with acute infectious illnesses, including COVID-19, refrain from attending. Our COVID-19 safety policy includes a two-step pre-testing requirement before arrival. If you test positive, please do not attend the workshop. We also advise exercising caution in social activities before the retreat, especially for those traveling by public transport.

If you have questions or would like further information about health considerations before signing up for a workshop, please contact us or view our health questionnaire. We're here to help you make an informed and safe decision.
