About the event

As part of our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we are pleased to announce a special workshop for all Certified Grof® Breathwork Facilitators—Leaning in and Showing up: Shifting Relational Ruptures into Relational Repair—facilitated by Jennifer Jones, PhD, LCSW and Aisha Mohammed, LMFT.

In a world constructed around hierarchies established within historical contexts of colonialism and slave trades, we all inhabit identities that are mapped onto us by others and go beyond how we might see ourselves. In groups, these socially constructed identities have the potential to impact relational dynamics - particularly when individuals hold differing social backgrounds and experiences. One of the dynamics that can be particularly impactful in group work is unintended relational disconnection, that can be experienced as mis-attunement, insensitivity, abandonment, disregard, microaggressions, or erasure.
As facilitators we need to be equipped to work with these kinds of relational ruptures, which if left unattended, can lead to a sense of harm, inequity or lack of psychological safety within relationships and communities.

This three-day online gathering invites you into an embodied exploration of social identities, the ways in which our legacies of colonialism and slavery live in the social field, and how all of these factors can lead to ruptures as well as opportunities to lean into a rupture/repair process. We will start by exploring our own and others’ socially constructed identities from a place of curiosity and compassion. Then we will examine the ways in which legacies of colonialism and slavery may live in all of us and show up in our expansive group work. We will end our time together honing our skills to show up for intentional repair that has the potential to transform those moments into opportunities for deeper connection and embodied learning and healing.

Attendance is strongly encouraged for all certified facilitators, though not required.
